Client experiences

What clients found useful

Specific client experiences from probation, dismissal and termination-agreement consultations in Germany.

“I stopped trying to answer everything at once.”

“My dismissal letter arrived after several confusing conversations with my manager. We put the conversations and documents in date order, then made separate lists for HR and a lawyer. The session did not promise an outcome, but it gave me a much better first call with counsel.”

“The preparation was more detailed than I expected.”

“I booked before my six-month probation review. Mara asked me to bring concrete feedback and the probation clause. We drafted five questions that sounded neutral rather than defensive. The written recap was useful, although I would have preferred a same-evening appointment; the available slot was two days later.”

A termination agreement with too many moving parts

A client had received an Aufhebungsvertrag containing an end date, proposed severance, release from duties and a reference clause. They were unsure which terms could affect unemployment registration and which belonged with an employment lawyer.

We did not advise whether to sign. Instead, the session produced a clause-by-clause question list, highlighted missing information about leave and company property, and separated questions for counsel from questions for the Agentur für Arbeit.

“The decision sheet stopped me treating the severance number as the whole agreement. I asked for time, spoke to a lawyer and clarified the certificate wording before deciding.”
Operations manager, Wiesbaden

“The boundary was clear.”

“I appreciated being told directly that my question had moved beyond general consultation and needed urgent legal advice. I still left with my dates organised and knew what to send the lawyer.”
